"Sometimes life throws us a curveball and leads us toward a new path to follow"
The Image below was taken at Highland Wildlife Park, such a amazing place to sit and wait for that perfect shot.
This little Snow Leopard cub was such a joy to capture, wonder what he was thinking while watching the light fade in the winter sky.
The King himself, he had his feed then I captured this one with him lazing around belly full but still with one eye slightly open ready to pounce.
Tigers are such beautiful creatures, the stare on these beasts says it all, and in the next breath they play around like normal cats, that's a game I definitely wouldn't want to play
Hello, I’m Tony Reeves-Cathrall, and I’m thrilled to welcome you to my website!
My journey into photography began in 2013, when a landscape photography book found its way into my hands during a period of illness. I was laid up due to a lifelong health condition, but what could have been a time of frustration turned into a transformative experience. The images in that book blew me away, each photo felt like a window into another world and I was instantly hooked. I knew then that I had to learn more. Not long after, I picked up my first camera, eager to bring the theory to life and start capturing my own slice of the world.
The road to where I am now hasn’t been easy. Health challenges forced me to change careers, but I've always been fortunate to have the unwavering support of my wife by my side. The silver lining in all of this? Having more time to dive into photography, learning as much as I could along the way. In a way, this journey of self-discovery and reinvention has shaped my creative path in ways I never could have imagined.
Photography, and especially my love for the outdoors, has become my therapy. It’s my escape, my focus, and a way to navigate the ups and downs that come with my health conditions. I've learned that when life throws challenges our way, it's how we respond that makes all the difference. If we can turn hardship into something positive, we're already halfway to success.
Over the years, I've explored many different genres of photography, soaking up inspiration from all corners of the globe. Though I’ve been captivated by landscapes everywhere, it’s the wild beauty of places like Iceland, the Faroe Islands, and Norway that really speak to me. Funny story, during a trip to Iceland, I decided not to take my camera because I thought -27°C was just too cold. I won’t be making that mistake again, trust me! As I missed out on so much to capture from the land of fire and ice.
I’m also drawn to the quiet serenity of forests and the peaceful energy of the open countryside, particularly in the UK, where I’ve developed a special connection to the land.
Since 2019, when my wife gifted me a more advanced camera, I’ve been able to refine my skills and focus on growing my photography business. The goal? To not only capture the world as I see it but to share that vision with you. My number one tip: Take your camera everywhere! You never know when that perfect shot will present itself.
Even though walking can be a struggle for me now, I never let that keep me from exploring the outdoors. Every hike, every outdoor adventure is an opportunity to capture new landscapes and discover new perspectives. Photography is not just a passion it’s a way to nurture my mental health and well-being while spending time with the people I love.
When it comes to my photography, I believe in the power of editing. The camera often doesn’t capture the true essence of what I see in front of me, so the editing process is where my images truly come to life. Whether I’m enhancing a scene to match the reality I experienced or experimenting with something entirely different, editing is where I can infuse my mood and creative energy into every shot.
Looking ahead, I’m excited to build more than just a gallery of photos. I want to create a space for learning and sharing. Soon, I’ll be adding resources right here on my site to help you on your own photography journey. And, I’m launching a YouTube channel to share my experiences, tips, and insights, so we can grow together.
My philosophy is simple: I want to give you the tools to take your photography to the next level and inspire you to tell your own stories through images. Thanks for joining me on this adventure I can’t wait to see where it takes us!
Stay inspired,
Tony Reeves-Cathrall
